Our Name
A Keystone as defined by Oxford’s Dictionary is:
- A central stone at the summit of an arch, locking the whole together.
- The central principle or part of a policy, system, etc., on which all else depends.
We truly believe that education plays that key role in who you become and in developing the skills by which you live life. Whether it is received at home, at school, at church, on the field, or in life, education gives us the knowledge, understanding and hopefully wisdom to live out our lives. As Christians, the Bible is our source for all knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. We strongly believe that a Biblically based education (or worldview) is that central piece of our lives on which all else depends.
That is why, from our teachers to our textbooks, Keystone Christian School is committed to providing students with a Biblical worldview that is integrated into all of our academic studies, taught by Christian teachers and encouraged in a faith-based environment.
We are providing a place where students are taught through a Biblical perspective that gives them the knowledge and skills necessary to lead their generation in the areas God has designed and purposed them for. We know that because the Bible is our “keystone”, their lives will be built on the center stone that upholds everything else.
Our Story
Keystone Christian School began out of a desire to see Christian schools return to their intended purpose of supporting Christian parents in raising their children in “the Way they should go [and in keeping with their individual gift or bent]” so that “when they are old, they will not depart from it”. (Prov. 22:6 AMP), and to further the Kingdom of heaven by fulfilling the great commandment of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples” “teaching them to do all of His commandments” (Matt. 28:19-20).
32 years ago, our founder, Sandra Carranza, heard God’s calling to teach and train Christian students in the way they should go so that when they were old they would not depart from it.
As a result, she left her well-paying job to take a small teaching position in the middle of the school year. Mrs. Carranza’s obedience in pursing God’s calling has enabled her to be a teacher, administrator, supervisor, international speaker, and author. She has affected and changed thousands of lives through her commitment to Christian education.
Five years ago, the Lord began to speak to her again and gave her a vision for 10 model Christian schools; schools that would be built on a Biblical foundation, that would partner with parents to train a generation of world changers. Schools that would remain committed to the vision of a truly Christian education – in Administration, Faculty and Staff, Curriculum, Parents, and Students.
Through prayer, patience and perseverance, we opened the first of those schools in Fall of 2015. What a privilege it has been to open right where God had first called our founder to this great cause, El Paso, Texas.
